Kowloon and the New Territories

Kowloon

(Kowloon West, Tsim Sha Tsui, Ho Man Tin, Yau Yat Chuen and Kowloon Tong)

Hong Kong’s “north shore” is separated from HK Island by Victoria Harbour but is accessible by three harbour tunnels for vehicular traffic, the MTR (underground railway) and the world famous Star Ferry.

Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon West are mostly modern high rise living, including a number of serviced apartment blocks, while the other areas, being established for much longer, contain a range of building types from high rise with communal recreational facilities or older-style apartments.

Popular with business professionals, bachelors, tourists and short term visitors, Tsim Sha Tsui is the location of several major hotels convenient to landmark buildings and popular tourist destinations such as the Star Ferry, the Avenue of Stars, the Nathan Road retail precinct, HK Polytechnic, the Science Museum and the HK Coliseum.

Kowloon West refers to the complex of newer modern high rise developments at Union Square comprising The Arch, The Waterfront, The Cullinan, Sorrento, The Harbour Side and the ICC, the tallest building in Hong Kong. Built on recently reclaimed land, this location is adjacent to the waterfront area earmarked for development into Hong Kong’s major hub for culture and the arts. Conveniently located above the Kowloon Airport Express train station and the major shopping mall Elements, Kowloon West is very popular with pilots and frequent business travellers.

Further inland, Ho Man Tin, Yau Yat Chuen and Kowloon Tong represent other residential pockets with a mix of new and older style complexes including high rise, mid rise and lowrise living in the form of townhouses. These areas are more popular for larger families and provide numerous local and international schools, major shopping malls, public gardens and parks and recreational clubs, with excellent public transport.
